Summary

The Finance Manager reports to the Vantec Hitachi Transport System (USA), Inc. Senior General Manager of Contract Logistics. This role will primarily be responsible for managing all controllership, financial reporting and cost accounting for the ILC operations in Canton, MS. The role will be responsible for enforcing the accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and purchasing management. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including monthly cost and billing review, profit/loss analysis, support of budgeting and forecasting activities, and audit preparation. – including but not limited to:

Providing the VHA Canton ILC Management Team and VHA CL Finance with financial data and financial analysis required to assist in decisions related to capital expenditures, operational expenses and customer billing compliance.
This role will primarily oversee the Profit and Loss financials, general accounting, and purchasing areas of the Canton ILC operation.
This role will direct, monitor, analyze and report on all the financial aspects of the operation and ensure company goals, guidelines and customer commitments are met.

Essential Duties & Functional Responsibilities Required

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
Approximately up to 25% travel required- insert as applicable or delete
Manages the daily financial activities and functions for the Canton ILC Operation.
Assists in the annual budget process working with Canton ILC Management and Contract Logistics Finance to produce and manage an effective budget.
Prepares ILC monthly financial performance reports with variances to budget and forecast.
Prepares monthly revised budget forecasts with direction from Canton ILC Management and Contract Logistics Finance.
Develop and analyze statistical data to improve procedural and production standards
Provides input to strategic decisions that affect various functional areas from a financial perspective.
Monitor operations performance to ensure customer requirements are met and billing is accurate.
Works with ILC Operations Management and Contract Logistics Finance on review of damages to customer products and equipment to ensure required documents are being obtained to file insurance claims
Provide and/or review financial analysis for new projects and that they meet profitability standards.
Ensures all financial processes and procedures meet overall company policies.
Oversees Purchasing to ensure best pricing is obtained and prior approvals meet company guidelines.
Ensures supplier invoices and performance are being adhered to per the supplier’s agreement or lease.
Oversee ILC company assets to ensure they are maintained and managed per company guidelines.
Ensures all accounting processes and practices comply with organization accounting policies
Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Previous Work Experience:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in management of financials in a logistics or manufacturing environment
Automotive experience preferred
Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance required
Experience Requirements and Preferences:

Master’s degree preferred
Speaks and writes in Japanese preferred but not required
Must pass credit, drug and criminal background check
Proven strong business acumen
Excellent time management skills
Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and laws
Demonstrated experience in interacting, developing and maintaining customer relationships and employee relationships
Proven success in improving quality, service, safety and client relationships in a fast paced setting

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Seventy-five percent of the work time will be spent in an office setting where the environment is climate controlled. Twenty-five percent of work time may be spent in various warehouse or other locations where the environment is not climate controlled (hot and cold seasonally).
